Shopping With Hubby

SHOPPING WITH HUBBY

It was our son’s Wedding, I had to look good,
My car in for servicing, sick under its hood,
So willingly and heartily hubby volunteered,
To take me to the mall, he came geared,
Two magazines, it didn’t matter how long I took!

Such a kind soul, I could never dream
My darling husband could still wear a beam,
After I’d dragged him, from shop to shop
And exhausted him till he wanted to drop,
What a saint, I had tested him to the extreme!

Of course we went to the best mall around,
Cost or price didn’t matter, eventually I found,
Exactly what I wanted, a little expensive I said,
Never mind love, walked to the cashier and paid,
I’m so pleased, now let’s be homeward bound!

I took his hand and we began to walk out,
Somehow he knew I was on a shopping bout,
We arrived at a shop which I knew rather well,
I was up to something, he could tell,
Darling I said, this outfit will suit you no doubt!

I know I'm lucky - he spoils me! Perhaps because we got married in our mid forties, we have more understanding and patience - don't know if you have read my poem in December 2000 we said I do - If you have time you might enjoy reading it. Thanks Lindsay, I guess most men would boil inside but keep a grin! Hugs, Jenny.

How sweet and patient your husband was and he was rewarded it sounds like you both put each other first...the best way to a happy marriage. My husband outshops me all the time. He loves to do the cooking. I help him find room for the groceries. I enjoyed your sweet creatively written poem Jennifer. : ) xxoo

Yes we do Connie but it is easier to be wiser in your mid forties and married for the 2nd time, you are given the chance to eliminate faults and habits which were maybe present in our first marriage. Both Elias and I had divorced as we had really miserable 1st marriages, but our first reward was that we both had a wonderful son each out of a disastrous fist marriage. We met the 2nd time around after I had been divorced for 8 years, and Elias 3. Thank-you for a wonderful comment Connie, Hugs, Jenny.

You brought back many shopping trip memories with my wife with this delightful verse, Jennifer, as I patiently (and not so patiently at times) trudged along with her! I enjoyed your comments re Easters Then and Now. I too was involved in Nativity plays and such church activities as a kid. The very best to you as you continue your poetical journey - BoB

Thank you Robert for such a meaningful comment - memories are what we are made of, and childhood memories and memories of loved ones rush into our mind as somethings, and some people trigger them off! Blessings my friend, Jenny.

This made me smile Jenny, as for being a man I quite like shopping though preferably food shopping and I am actually colour blind so Christine makes sure I get the right colour to suit me! But this is a fine write, rather enjoyable with a nice twist to finish with. Have blessed weekend,Gordon

I had to laugh at your comment Gordon- most men are color blind, that is why 9 times out of 10, I choose clothes for Elias. I'm really pleased you enjoyed it, I don't think my husband in reality, expected the true twist in this tale! Hugs, Jenny.

Its good for the soul to have a family shopping outing - Tom said similar - you both have daughters, Its good we all understand one another - ladies shop - so to have a happy life, the gentleman will have to accompany (occasionally) the ladies and go on a shopping spree - which means a happy wife! Warm regards and hugs Jenny.

Hi my friend, I actually bought him a very cool suit for the wedding - this all happened two years ago - had no car over that weekend so my hubby offered to take me. Whenever I go shopping I always bring him back something small as i did for our two boys whilst they were young and still at home - empty nest syndrome now! Poetry hugs Jen.
