Shoeless Summer

Tiptoeing across the dewy grass
in the fresh and early morn
Cool and wet is the feeling I get
 no shoes have I worn

Trudging through scorching sand
to find a place to sit
As I perspire my feet are on fire
my flip flops I did omit

Late evenings on the porch swing
cooler air watching the sun set
Breezes tickle my toes then rise to my nose
A pair of slippers I seemed to forget

Summer is in the air everywhere
From my bare feet and flowers so sweet
Through your toes and your nose
May you truly hail all this season unveils
