Shocking Pain

My arm hurts, that is well known
The damage it has bestowed
Upon me is very great
Nerve damage shocks me

Nerve damage, like the damage I have, does this “phantom pain” in the damaged area; you feel this incredible pain anywhere from 6 seconds to 30 seconds. This pain is like an electric shock and man, does it ever hurt! On a good day you might feel the pain only maybe 20-35 times during the day. On a bad day however you would feel the pain around 100-150 times that day, sometimes more! Trust me it gets old and you want for it to end but there’s no way to remedy it!

Avis Bailey June 28, 2015 at 1:05 PM Sooooo sorry for your pain. I also suffer from nerve damage in my back. I have injections in my spine pretty often and it helps some, but not as long as it should. Hope you get some kind of relief.. Good write. Your description right on the mark!!!

Like the way you describe it as "shocking" because these are electrical impulses from the brain. Hope your neuropathy isn't is bad as mine. This poem hit home for me. Great work! Love, Carolyn
