Shine Down

Shining bright
In neon lights
Dancing to the rhythm
Myself my only companion

Dressed to kill
Drink in hand I spill
The earth begins to move
I push & shove

Stumbling over wasted youth
Spewing regret into the open mouth
Of Father Time
Feeling like I’ve committed a crime

My light dulled down
To make others comfortable
My voice turned down
So I can be approachable

Dreaming in a web of confusion
Lighting the fire with my omission
Burning everything I love to ashes
Crying as my tears turn to sand.

A powerful, passionate poem. Nicely written.
