Shield of Fear
Time pauses when your heart's breaking,
and you feel each minute detail.
Yet, the truth of the matter is;
dreams and wishes rarely prevail.
You cannot see beyond lust's lies,
blinded by Hope's masking effect.
Yet, anchored in reality,
hearts forgive moments of neglect.
Love's a song sung as a duet,
whose harmony is in two parts.
And it is an intimate tune,
orchestrated by lonely hearts.
Love does not follow rigid rules,
for love is unpredictable.
And yet, when half souls become one,
happiness is predictable.
Love's an intangible feeling;
that can fuel a kiss or tear.
So, when eternal bliss beckons,
lovers lower their shield of fear.
