Shield
Shield
We held your dying baby, we tried our very best.
Even though you caused it, we treated you like the rest.
we dragged you from that car crash, the one that killed that child
we still told you that you’d be ok, regardless of how riled.
we still treat you with empathy, when your crimes deserve none
Regardless of the hate you spew, into your dark we’ll run
we’ll be there when you try to jump, for strangers we risk all
If you are going over, then we’re both gonna fall
For some this is a paycheck, just a job to pay the bills
For others it’s a calling, it’s the only way we live.
To turn our back on evil, is to declare that it has won.
Never will we yield to the that until our lives are done
So, go ahead and use us, abuse us all the same
You’re the only ones who lose, if were taken from the game
We see, so you don’t have too, we shield you from the shame
When you look deep inside the mirror, it’s just easier to blame
So, while we’re getting spit at and dodging drug fueled fists
I hope you know the price we pay to ensure your constant bliss
Nothing in this world is free, collections are made each day
We’ll gladly step in front of you, so you won’t have to pay
