Transcendent One, immutable in power, All glorious Father, worthy of all praise! O mighty King of heaven, every hour You show yourself the Shepherd of my days. My deeds, my thoughts, unworthy of rewards, Yet as I flail, you hold me to your breast. This lowly sheep with grace my Lord regards - Thus safe in your embrace I find my rest. The Father’s Lamb himself says “Come to me, And all who enter through me shall be saved”. He came to give us life abundantly, And by his blood the path to God is paved. In laying down his life to save his sheep, Only the Shepherd may our spirits keep.

John, this is one of the most meaningful and beautifully composed sonnets I have read on this site. It went straight into my favourites and I agree with Craig that you are truly gifted in this area and that only someone who knows the Shepherd Himself could have written such heartfelt words. A wonderfully inspirational poem which I shall share further.

I'm very touched and appreciative of your kind and uplifting words, Wendy. Especially coming from an expert sonnet crafter such as yourself. Knowing we share a faith in the Good Shepherd makes this all the more special. A heartfelt Thank You for bringing me such a smile today ~ John

If someone does not understand and respect meter they could never write this poem - If someone does not understand and respect the form, they could do neither - If someone did not understand nor respect the Lord...they should bow at these truths

Sam, you are a blessing to many here on Soup as I see your thoughtful comments gracing the poems of many. Your ministry of encouragement is in full bloom, even as the Lord has flourished the flowers and emptied the tomb. Your poetry touches my heart as well. Heb 10:23-25. God bless your Easter!
