Sheltered Memory

They say it takes a minute
to fall in love, you changed 
the rules that day, 
in seconds I knew 
my heart was in trouble, 

to squabble and say 
this can’t be true,
would be like saying
I’m hardly alive,
I’m barely breathing 
It’s all because of you…

You crept into places
only you knew existed
you opened me up, 
doubts took a back seat
and so did my reticence,

with you in my life 
it’s all about living, 
the desire to give up,
a sheltered memory…
