Sheet Metal Moon

I work at the moon factory

cutting moons out

of sheet metal brass

all day long

just before night

I hang all the moons

I have cut out

on hooks in the sky

this way the people

that look out

of a million windows

will all see their own

unique moon

everyone sees

their own moon

except when two people

look out of the same

window together

they will have

to share that moon
