She Sees Me and Smiles

She's gone She's free No pain Restrain We never knew from whence it came as cruelly it crept inside her brain Watching her slowly fade away It truly broke my heart every minute of every hour of every single day this evil disease was taking a hold unable to walk unable to talk so sad to see when she did not know me My dearest Sis would sometimes return to brighten up my day Was it something I said Was it something I read A song maybe brings her back to me What joy to see her smile again and her sparkling blue eyes knowing deep down inside She is there all the while She sees me and smiles This disease I truly despise ~~~ Sadly just a week ago My dearest Sis ‘twas time to go Now free is she No pain Restrain Her dear sweet soul soars up above My tears they flow 'twas her time to go Sis I want you to know That I love you so My sweetest friend beat Alzheimer’s in the end Written 24th June 2022 for Deborah contest BRIAN STRAND PREMIERE CHOICE sponsor Brian Strand 6th PLACE

Dear Gordon have only just seen your lovely words and I thank you so much. Deb was in fact my sister in law, but she was like the sister I never had (have 2 brothers) and over these last few years we grew very close. To see her decline at such a young age was devastating - she was in her middle 50's when diagnosed and just 66 when she passed - God rest her soul... with kindest thoughts from Ann xx

Alzheimer’s - or any serious illness, for that matter, reaches human kind to the depths of sufferings. Living with these is the only possible success over these. Beautifully written. Congratulations!

So sad, it affects the brain slowly eating it up and shrinking it to almost nothing. My heart goes out to you. Blessings my friend
