She Only Said She Loved Him

She only said she loved him.
Of the rest she was reticent.
He only stood and wondered
 What it was she'd meant.

She said she only loved him.
No other would he find.
Was there no other to share his world?
Was the greater world so unkind?

She said it was only him she loved,
Yet as to why - Unknown.
Why but he and no other?
What bitter seed had she sown?

Only she said she loved him.
She alone possessed the reason.
Would she the answer give,
Some future time or season?
