She Lives Among Us
She lives among us
Neither black nor white
Raised in a country divided
Her struggle is real and yet
She is too white to be with her father
And too black to be with her mother
She can only be claimed in the secret rooms
Of the secret people, neither black nor white
In her country she is a crime that cannot be
Recognized or they will pay the price.
One day, maybe, in a land far away, in a unknown
Time, she might be able to come into her own and
Live her Life with no shame of color or circumstance.
