She Is Alive

5 -11- 2016 The face of yours: brownish colour that shone like this golden Neck-lace of yours; so vivid in my eyes I remember Whenever I look at this chain, memory of yours clog my brain: Of the love you shown me when you were alive Alas – I hope no limit to human life: so you could be ever alive You are dead, but in this heart you are alive ever As you cherished me when you are alive Alive will your memory be in this brain. Note: she was my father's mother. She lived in our town – Iragbiji – in her life era. I did visit her with my parents and my younger sisters and brothers, during the festival. Though most of times me and my brothers and sisters did visit her was during the third term holiday. Granny was pleasant living with, apart from all sort of things she used to buy us; she was used to pampering children. In 2003, she died of breast cancer; she had made hospital a home before she died. She was gradually recovering then, everyone had thought she had overcome death, but all of a sudden, she gave up the ghost. Callous death took her away without her goodbye I didn’t acquire much from her, but this golden neck-lace. Though it is old and has no much value, but one will not know at a glance, for it shines and looks anew all the time. Had my religion allows me to wear neck-lace, I will be wearing it all around. Death sadness be yours granny is a – live

Objects that seem worthless to some can be priceless to others when they have love attached to them... This poem is so heartfelt and very moving, A.M. I know that all of us can relate to this... Hold that necklace tight and keep it near you always!

The value of a necklace left for you by a loved one who passed on cannot be measured in dollars. It is the price set by your heart that matters, so this necklace is priceless. Beautiful words, Afolabi!
