She Hoped Someone Would Notice

she got smaller and smaller hoping he would notice he never looked up he called for his supper but she could not answer for her voice had shrunk too it had shrunk into nothingness she thought others might notice but sadly no one did, so she made herself a nest in a tiny dust ball, and laid down to die.

this is so sad, it happens too much... these poor women lose their identities by being either ignored or told that they are worthless... They stay hoping that things will change or there is nowhere else for them to go. They die inside...

My identity is sacred, it is the one thing I plan to keep until the end.

Ah, how sad. Such a good poem, but with a sad, sad ending. Such a shame that a woman would allow this to happen to herself. AND, such a shame that a husband would do this to his wife!

Sadly, some wives do this to their husbands also.
