She Has the Kindest Eyes
She knows me not, he thought, so he opened up his heart.
He told her everything; they were on a plane. He would never see her again.
He felt safe, behind a mask of anonymity.
He was right too, for about three years.
About the time he fell in love with Charlotte.
A gorgeous young woman, who had the kindest ways.
She was a terrific listener, her eyes pulled everything from his brain.
But he was careful not to tell her the things he had told the woman on the plane.
If she knew those things, she would have never considered dating him.
Let alone being engaged or marrying him.
The day he met her parents, he stared into her mother’s eyes.
They were exactly like her daughter’s, and he suddenly remembered
How those interested eyes had pulled everything out of him once upon a time
on a plane.
