She Had Been Written Off
Journeying through a pandemic
with nary a step
fear kept her home
for way too many days
She devoured her books
until they fell off of their spines
feeling more alone now
wishing she had bought a Kindle or I-pad
Writing became an obsession
for there was no one to call
She had alienated everyone years earlier
Been written off as not interested
She expired gladly on a Tuesday at two
Her cat Morgan-Meister followed suit
After the water ran out
For she had closed the toilet.
