She Donated Her Egg

The day finally came, the day she’d been dreading, The phone call that spoke to her soul, And the voice on the end, made her heart miss a beat, The words made her lose all control, It explained the big news, no trouble or issue, But now she had to fathom goodbye, She had to let what she had, go to a new home, Then she hung up and sat down to cry. You see, her egg had grown up, her child had been born, Had grown inside a new mum, And now this baby, lay in this new mothers arms, As he slowly began sucking his thumb, So she gathered her heart, faced the front door, Wiped the tears from where she had cried, Knowing she’d created a new happy family, With the egg that she had supplied.

Yes, the world is so modern now but in spite of all these abilities we have to help others, we still want to know what came from us. I enjoyed the way you told this story.

Lewis, this is a particularly heartwarming poem as my mom was given up at birth by her 16-year old mother... and we did meet up with the birth mother some sixty years later (only three years prior to her death). It was heart wrenching to hear firsthand the lifelong impact of that "gift" on the giver. Marvelous poem.

A very heartfelt write Lewis; the real Mum has every reason to feel that way as I would too! (Although I don't think I'd ever part with my eggs lol!)~Che :)

Hi Cheryl, thanks, i'm guessing 100% with this one, but i think if i were a woman, and donated my eggs, i'd feel a pang of emotion when the children began being born
