She and I

One day just dawned and she was gone,
I know not where, nor can I ever hope
To touch once more her cherished face,
To feel the warmth, to share her mirth.
But I do know with her has gone
A thousand dreams, life's fantasy.

Yet there was a negative twist,
Relations strained, and discontent.
Now all those nightmares are so far away
And I can surely hope for better days.

For I admit that our sweet and bitter love
Was just a thorny bed of fragrant roses.
There was desire and there was envy
And there was love and anger and despair.
I'll miss the love, I'll miss the care
That I admit though she was never true;
But gone too is the torment and the fear
That killed my peace and barred all truce.

In a marriage we have our ups and downs, but we are willing to accept them because of our love. We tend to reflect on then now that they are gone, why I don't know. Great write , Victor. Hugs Eve

I have a feeling this is perhaps fictional even though parts of it sound like your dearly departed wife. Like Kim, I too love that first verse.

Some relationships just aren't meant to be, Victor. I like the way you compared this ill fated love to a thorny bed of fragrant roses. Fine imagery, my friend. :)

A one sided relationship spells disaster my friend Victor, I have seen several arranged marriages that are so unhappy, on occasions they work, but by and large a real tsunami situation! Another relationship, which is endangered and spells disaster and sometimes tragedy, is when a younger woman marries a much older man. Jealousy becomes unbearable and finally the woman finds her way into a younger mans arms. Your poem talks of hurt, you write about it so well. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

This is beautifully and well written for stating the truth that there are more relationships that are really one sided or turbulent. Although, we walk away or they walk out, it still hurts for all the time we shared with them.

A negative relationship with some positives scattered about, maybe you are better off without her:) well done, Victor, wonder what inspired this...

You seem a little sad in this very well penned poem, my friend Victor, as a great poet it can be so deceptive to encounter such a greedy person but I think it’s always necessary to move on for a simple reason that who ever is not faithful he is going loosely to your heart and soul. Blessings and regards

Sad to love someone who is not faithful. I know that has to be painful and causes so much mistrust in a relationship. I like the good part though without the negative. I appreciate your visits to my page. Sara

WoW! Victor, Relationships are unpredictable, one never knows how they will turn out. You expressed that very well in this well written verse. In this case, it's good it ended and the torment is over-Alexis

Gone are the torment and fear--some relationships are thorny as you so eloquently describe, Victor-- with all the emotions that ruin peace. Relief that she's gone...
