SHE

She is strong, A survivor to the core, Fighting for the rights That should be hers, Instead she is denied of. She is brave, Courageous in the midst of her fear, Striving to give a better life, To the ones she hold dear. She is a miracle, From her life is born, She is selfless, Giving all she is, To a world that couldn't care less. She is a warrior, Not with swords or crossbows Does she fight, But with ignorance and prejudice. She is criticised and insulted, Her body sold, Her pride destroyed, Her heart battered and broken, The light of her soul snuffed out, Used and used, For pleasure and service, Until she is discarded, When she is worn enough. She is told daily, What to wear, How to speak, What she must do in life, Her dreams and aspiration ridiculed, Dismissed as 'unfit ' for a lady. Yet, each and everytime, She bears it all, The cruelty of an unjust society, With a smile, She hides it all, A phoenix she is, Born from the embers of bigotry, Strengthened from the flames of discrimination. She is a wife, loyal A mother selfless, A daughter, precious, A sister, adorable, She wears all these titles, With grace and elegance, She is a breeze, gentle, But a storm contained within. She is a woman, Deserving to be celebrated, Appreciated, Loved, And acknowledged, Each day of her life.
