Shatters of Lightning

SHATTERS OF LIGHTNING An electric axe shatters the station wagon window And the little girl cowers in the front seat confused As tornados of glass swirl like lightning bugs striking the window. She used to be haunted by those spritely creatures, Yet as the dark sharpness settles, the mysterious spirits whisk away. She is alone with the glass, which has landed on her like a swarm of sleeping fireflies. Looking around, she sees flickers of safety, swirled with shards of danger
