sometimes its better to let the yoke go ~ than lay his egg in the snow

thought the penguin to herself ~ after her loyal mate made a no show

yeah she’s cold but not frigid ~ as half dozen males stand up in a row

These are sure fun. I remember being really inspired when I saw the documentary March of the Penguins. I wrote several poems back then including one about the gay penguin I think was in the documentary as well. I named him Pierre.

Theres always so many in the line waiting, why must she weep. Chin up flaunt them colors hahah. Black or white! If no show, well , loss for the loyal mate. I read this thru a different lens. Its quite late where im at and i am listening to imagine dragons, and watching him perform so i might not have grasped this too well. But for sure the last line made me laugh! Love that! Cold but not frigid yes! Pleasure visiting your intriguing and witty write! Sending you light always

You’re on the money Ink, Maybe she was a chin strap penguin lol! They’re so cute! It must be morning on your island by now, hopefully you fell back asleep, Imagine dragons, my second favourite Vegas band after (the Killers) yeah nature is never frigid, and always finds a way, I’m sure her loyal mate regretted nothing, even in the shark’s mouth, such is life! Thanks for the visit Ink, cheers David

Well he's blown his chances, maybe he didn't fancy sitting on the egg while she went off with her mates fishing lol. Tom

That’s just it Tom, one of them must stay with the egg or it’s doomed, her mate was eaten so she had to make a choice, lay the egg and die alongside it, or go fishing again both figuratively and metaphorically, nature doesn’t do cruel, sink or swim, cheers David

Lots of layers in here David - it's possible to have an essay writing field day and create a version of 'York Notes' on the poem :) reminds me when I was a young penguin & I broke off a 5 year engagement, did lots of crying I'd be alone forever only to find when newly single & 23 the ability to attract a male increases by about 50 fold. Pretty empowering!

Yes the sharks were doing more than one job here, I always like to layer them up, I even put (half dozen) in to accompany the eggs lol!

I have to say I cast the sharks as the potential suitors rather than the source of the untimely end of Mr Loyal lol - I could spin several stories from a few of the other lines but kept them to myself haha - great thought provoker as always :)

There you go, the penguin in you almost solved the puzzle lol! I did put lots of wordplay and a red herring in here, even double entendres, with (not frigid) and (males stand up); the empowering of your broken engagement, it certainly didn’t go unnoticed, you just validated my Monoku, thanks LG, cheers David

lol at these. She should let the jerk go and find a real loyal Mate. Two many fish in the sea and too many penguins on that ice berg to put up with that jerk. So very clever and rhymed, David!

Haha! This one needs a little closer examination Lin, I loosely gave the game away in the title, (shark attack) I was alluding that her loyal mate got eaten, but the truth is she would have no idea this happened and just see him as a no show, in the animal kingdom the female or would be suitors don’t care, life just goes on with minimal fuss, survival of the fittest lol!
