Sharing a Dream

Fiery red glow fills the sky
As the sun begins to set
Giant pillows of cloud come rolling by
A fine day tomorrow i'll bet.

Owl hooting a territorial call
Perched high up in a tree
The giant oak standing strong and tall
These things mean so much to me.

Squirrel foraging on the forest floor
Storing nuts away
Up the tree then back for more
That sight still makes my day.

field mice climbing in the wheat
Nervously they feed
Then sprint away on tiny feet
These are the views I need.

The pond alive with frog and toad
Swallow feeding on the wing
The scent of wild flowers in natural abode
Should make the hardest heart begin to sing.

When I close my eyes I see all the above
They help make me who I am
Things that fill my heart with hope and love
They define me as a man.

Rolling meadows lush and green
Water trickling in the stream
I'm humming as I paint this scene
Time to close my eyes and dream.

I really enjoyed this Darren. It makes me happy you have such a connection with nature and that you're able to reflect this poetically.
