Shards

splayed on a lavender altar
lilacs scent frigid air
crimson droplets gut the darkness
with skill and surgeon’s flare

teardrops fall in amber pools
fermenting churning suds
casualties of the fever
that lost the drive to love

the future now is different
seasons proceeded to pass
perspectives appear in a rear view mirror
broken faces are etched in fractured glass

the future
abruptly came to pass
poured by me
in an icy glass

shadows veil the symphony
haze the meandering maze
smoke told of a tragedy
mirroring a blue eyed daze

in the darkness
voices spoke
the father
son and holy ghost
