Shameless As a Piece of Glass

I rather die than just pass
away from boring days to fabled prayers,
I rather live my life today
as if I never cared.

I hope you understand my fears,
shattered for seven years,
in this plain of existence,
I'm jeered.

I feel shards of niceties
prick my skin,
in most unfavored ways,
merely on a whim.
Blood flows,
heart breaks,
mind is born-again.

I know the frame of life sits in the pane,
and the light is bright enough to blind.
Yet on I shine...
shameless as a piece of glass.
