Shadows

I delve into the shadows,
the shadows of my mind.
The secrets that are buried there
I never want to find.

In the darkness of the shadows
I can barely see the light.
My thoughts of selfish pleasures
carry me through the night.

Somewhere in the shadows
a life is in despair.
I feel the suffocation
as the soul's deprived of air.

Longing for the shadows,
a place in which to hide;
like the secrets of the ocean,
swirling with the tide.

I delve into the shadows,
the shadows of my mind.
The secrets that are buried there
someday I will find.
