Shadowknight
I wear silver mail and bear a sword,
I carry a shield with coat of my kin,
I pledge to be true to my ev'ry word,
and I duel with dark foes, time and again.
Yet I cannot tell yon maiden so fair,
that romance and not lust guides my soft gaze.
Or that I meet with black knights everywhere,
because courage, not fear, makes banners raise.
Robed in nobility; lo, it's a shell.
Beneath all the armor I'm still a man.
Tempted, tormented, and fearful of hell,
Imperfect flesh, though I do what I can.
I march for the myth of what I could be.
I march for the lies of eternity.
