"Yalto" is a minimalist, semi-staccato, pithy poetry form used to tell a story, make a statement/complete a thought, create an image/paint a vivid portrait, etc. It was invented by yours truly. Lines 1-15: 3,4,2,4,5,3,2,3,2,3,3,5,6,1,5 syllables. Date written: 07/22/2026

Shadow Waltz

waltzing to
     the sweet songs your
          soul sings
               in the hush of 
                    a civil twilight. 
we tightly
     clasp hands, 
           i   n   h   a   l   i   n   g 
                the smooth
                     and gentle 
melody
     that guides our footsteps 
          through the shadows of time. 
               l   o   v   e
                    keeps us surging forth.
