Shadow Dancing

Every day at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
your shadow walks across
my mind and settles down
resting on my love.  Awakening
my mind’s activity to ensure
you’ll never go away, never
fade in the sunlight.
We dance amongst the flowers
and sleep in peaceful fields,
we travel the world speaking
more languages that I
ever knew existed.  As I
return to the world outside
your shadow, the sunlight
removes you, drowning
out your pattern, searing
it into the walls of my brain.
