Seventh Day Sorrow
The garden of Eden was ready
The sun, moon and stars in their place,
Calm seas were abundant with creatures
And planets revolving in space.
The jewel of all God’s creation
Was made in his image and blessed,
Then seeing the fruits of his labours
The Lord God took justified rest.
He looked down on all he’d created
And let out a satisfied sigh,
For all that he’d made was so perfect
And gladdened his being thereby.
But as he remembered the future
His heart became heavy with pain
For pride, greed and enmity flourished
And innocent people were slain.
Like waterfalls flowed tears of sorrow
For labours of love seemed undone,
The rainbow of peaceful reunion
Could only be bridged by his Son.
