Seven U

July 7, 1977 ...

I met YOU
My split-apart
My kindred heart
My first true love
My one soul-mate
My lucky number?
Seven ...

Your lucky number?
Seven ...
Our last time
Together?
Seven years ...
Seven months ...
And seven days ...

AFTER 7/7/77.
Not that it matters,
But I have struggled
To find meaning for
This extraordinary
Twist of fate and
The number seven,

Yet it eludes me
To this day ...
As does the reason
Why I still find you
In my mind ...
My heart ...
My dreams.

As if it were
Yesterday that
We last looked
Into each other's
Eyes and saw
Amaranthine.
Now this bookend ...
