Seven Churches

The nearest town is 9 or 10 miles away. There is no reason to go there every day. This is farmland, deep in the heart of the country. Here, most churches do not meet every Sunday. It is in this quiet place that we have come to stay. Distance and quietness are far more than just okay. This charming place is filled with hospitality and tranquility. It's a good place to be, even when the clouds turn grey. But today, it's not about the weather that I wish to share. This Sunday, I encountered 6 people and 7 church buildings. Church buildings and church people are the story of my life. It was not really dismay, but was a cause for which to pray. Today is Sunday, and I went church hunting along the highway. No. They were not the 7 churches of Asia spoken of in Scripture. More precisely, I would call them the 7 churches of Holmes County. It was not until the 7th church that I was able to enjoy fellowship. I was very grateful to have found a nice place of word and worship. But I must say that I treasure the rich and unique experience I had today. Those dear Christians were an example of dedication to their Lord and His Church. I therefore rejoice in this memorable day. Amazingly, I nearly passed-up the last church. 042422PS
