Set Me Adrift
time’s withered hands winding down
faces wearing pain’s frown
open mouths and vacant eyes
of long lost vibrant lives
vocalizing eerie moans
from thin skinned aching bones
napping in death’s waiting house
all alone, without spouse
last visit to say goodbyes
to gramps before he dies
sadness grips my heart inside
standing by his bedside
our farewell prompts me to say
in this place I won’t stay
so my love, I do implore
set me adrift from shore
