Service With a Smile

Service, service with a smile nary a howl or a scowl At gas stations, supermarkets at restaurants across the land America's Service was its #1 brand Then came self-service gas, big box and supermarket self-check-outs ... 'Service,' a quaint notion from days of yore gasping for breath ~ a whale washed up on shore

It was a pleasure to shop years ago; you were assisted in choosing your purchase which was wrapped well and placed in a bag, all done with a smile, then graciously thanked for shopping in their department. A pleasant experience for the assistant and customer. If this is old-fashioned, I like being old-fashioned!

What a pleasant reminder your comment gave me of the 'good old days,' so precious in so many ways. ! Gershon

Yes. Gone are the days when I as a new employee was instructed to answer any complaint with, "I'm sorry about that. What happened?" instead of "What did you do to it??? Eliz.

So true. Gone - and definitely forgotten. Pity, that.

Wow, you hit the nail on the head. Marshall Field’s Slogan I still hear. “ The customer is always right.” It is ugly in a self service world, just like social media! Rudeness, no people, really. Just typing. Some need a punch in the nose. Robots, next, we kill babies but adore non living things! Such a world! Pangie xx OY!

Remember those long-gone old days of real customer service. I think a punch in the nose is a pretty good idea, by the way... I'm off to 'Dismantling Robots' 101 class. Heh-heh. Keep smiling, P! ~ Gershon
