September was a Long Time Coming

September was a long time coming
Summer seemed to last eleven months this year
Kansas had never had such a hot August
I was hopeful we would get down to comfortable temperatures
The next four days predictions are 95, 94, 96, and 93
Not what we are used to in Kansas
Our pools close the weekend of Labor Day

Melting and being miserable are our two options
Unless you are retired and can stay inside your home
Which is what I have opted to do
My girlfriends are begging me to meet for lunch
My car has leather seats
They get burning hot while I am in restaurants
I am putting my faith in October, hoping to see seventy degrees.
