So far away . . .
I know why you're there,
heard all the reasons.
I've no argument with
the why of it, but
missing you hurts.
I need your arms,
your solid strength,
now spent on foreign soil.
In my dream, I feel you
lying next to me, your
voice rumbling in my ear.
I reach out for you, touch
empty space, cold sheets.
Longing overwhelms me,
tears fall unheeded.
Tomorrow I will wear
my cloak of courage,
tonight I weep alone.
