Sentry of the Sea

it's been two hundred years that I have stood here Casting my silent signal on the sea Warning those that venture near my coastline Protecting those that place their trust in me On this rocky crest I am the master The crashing surf bowing at my feet My eye guides the fate of weary sailors Anxious for their voyage to complete Weigh your anchor safe within my bosom In your hold your cargo snugly stow You have survived the perils of the voyage I salute you with my lanterns glow It is I, the sentry of the harbor Fending off whatever nature hath Believe in me and I will be your savior Shielding you from Poseidon's wrath

Beautiful writing Bob with heart and meat in it. I can say the same about your writing as you have said about mine. I do not have to wonder what you are talking about. I always enjoy. Have a lovely Thanksgiving. And think about what Gwen has said. Put it in the PS contest. Love, Joyce

This should be entered in the next BIG PS Contest..this is amongst your best writes ever. I love all the images of this Guardian Lightouse..the image of a Savior with glowing lantern just moves me deeply...I bet you didn't mean to write a spiritual write but it came across as such to me...the perils of life are experienced out on Poseidon's waters...you bring them safely home. Whoa...., just raw talent! Love it..printing it for my personal notebook.Luv, Gwendolen

As a former boat owner, I can relate to the comfort sailors sense when they see the lighthouse, Bob. Also love the way you gave life to the lighthouse, allowing it to guide and shield seafarers from "Poseidon's wrath." A lighthouse was a life saver for me once. Outstanding poem! Going to my favorites. Love and blessings for a happy Thanksgiving, Carolyn
