Notes About The Poem

The Bald Eagle is the symbol of courage and strength .

To the Native American People he is the symbol of more.

He symbolizes honor and dignity as well. He is a sacred bird who carries the prayers of men to The Father in Heaven.

It is fitting that he would keep watch over the graves of the fallen heroes.

Sentry

Sentry sits alone,
Amid fallen heroes graves.
He was their symbol.

Quietly he sits.
It is fitting he keep watch,
For they gave their all.

The Bald Eagle is a predator and carnivore, yet one saved my life once, so they all get my respect! Aloha! Rico

Indeed most wild animals are either predators or eaters of carrion. Did you know that Ben Franklin did not want the bald eagle for the U.S. symbol because he called him a vulture. True Story. Thanks bunches, God Bless, JB
