Sentinel of the Sea

Sentinel never sleeps; resting upon water thrashed rocks, this shining beacon of the sea. Her watch, sees all, Her stories sung in shanties, by old salts; She holds within the secrets, which ocean confides. She is a lighthouse and she never betrays a trust.

Oh, I love this ode to beacons, ML ... love the phrasing and rhythm, and you have brought much imagery and color forth with minimal text, an art form few can master as you have here ... superb, and I'm fav-ing! :-)

No, the lighthouse is relied upon by many sailors and one in St. Marks, Florida probably saved me one night. I'm so glad to know people appreciate them, and not just for their history, but for the value they have in saving lives to this day. Excellent entry for the contest! Best wishes for a win.

Thank you, I've always loved them, too; love drawing and painting them. They have that air of mystery that stimulates one's imagination.
