Senseless Followership

Her quest for relevance keeps her lower than position one
her worth is written all over the walls of her room
yet, steps out of the front door and completely forgets.
A bright brain is wrapped under her friends’ skirts
and basic rights, squeezed by the slippery muscles of their armpits
to eat whatever is thrown at her, even if not palatable.
Esteem works so hard on her own promotion,
self suffers a condemning look by own eyes.
she never sees but waits until the boss-girl fancies
her loyalty is then joked by every comedian in town.
confirming a connection only defined by abuse.
Friendship which is always measured with a long tape
does not deserve nurturing from the one whose legs are tied.

Beautifully written and describes people I find least to my liking. Sadly there are many of her type. Thank you for reading my work. Best to you in your writing endeavors. / M

The last two lines of this fable, most pertinent and the most intriguing. A quest for relevance, surely, is not gauged by the worth seen in others eyes, but in her / his own self evaluation (confidence, esteem). In that respect, he/she would always be No. 1 and not any number below that position. Leanne
