Listen to poem:

Sense Absence In Future Tense

The absence was glaring
like an elephant,
monstrous,illusive,
membranous, diaphanous,
obvious to everyone
in the room, complicit in joint deception.
The unwritten absence, never
resolved, never truly dealt with,
hung like a pall of smoke
you could see, smell and taste,
but not hear nor feel.
For no one wanted to mention it,
nor to transact
the fleeting memories into
the currency of present tense.
The absence was obvious,
but was locked away in the past,
for sense resolution
in future tense.
