"self-Portrait"

Paint me a picture of things I've missed
Of nurturing love and happiness-
Color it brightly and brush it on bold;
Paint me a memory that's mine to behold-

Paint me a landscape with flowers so rare,
Or maybe a portrait with eyes that care;
Paint it with oils that won't smudge with my tears
And brush it with feeling not hardened by years-

The canvas complete, take your easel; depart!
I'm left with a picture, locked in my heart.
