Notes About The Poem

Self-Control

So many bloodbaths have taken their toll: that thinking about it brings me to tears. And too often, has sin tainted my soul; for me to find God in my later years. I still see the wild animal in Man that history confirms was always there. Although we deny the truth when we can, human atrocities are everywhere. Genocide and blatant brutality are fueled by Man's primitive urges. And when faith imbues immorality with religious might, chaos emerges. Human beings supposedly have a soul: yet we've failed to demonstrate self-control.

Emile, this is awesome work. So true. So true. I hope your message goes forth and is repeated time and again and, hopefully, someday it will come to fruition. Keep up the good work!

There are so many damaged souls that are not able to get beyond their own pain, so they inflict it on others. Your sonnet presents a powerful message Emile. You are so good at holding up that mirror for us to look inside ourselves. This is wonderful work as is everything you write my friend. Blessings xxoo

A wonderful write Emile, and the last two lines are so true, try as we might to always be nice, sometimes we lose spiritual sight and our grace goes out like a light. Been there done it and suffered badly inside for it... Belle
