Seize the Night

For the day is long
And the night is short
For that reason
We must live
And toil each day.
The sunshine hours
Take all your time,
Consuming wants
And your every desire.

For this, I say,
Take back the night
Dream, let love
Descend upon
The evening hours
With a smile
That lights the sky.

Dream long,
Allowing yourself time
To be whom you want,
With whom you want,
As long as you want.

Dream strong,
Let the doorways
That blocked
Your entrance
Now be open
And let your feet
Grant you access
To the other side
Of your own life.

So, I say,
When daytime
Pushes you into
Reality of life
Let the night
Be your guide
To the fantasy
Of life.

Another favorite! A very good lesson here....we spend so much time living our daytime routine, sometimes we forget to enjoy our dreamtime. That is one thing I have found on Poetry soup....it gives me an opportunity to take time out of the busy day ... to dream, to spend more time enjoying the evening hours and to share some of it with all of you.....Carrie
