Seismic Needs

when I sleep I cling
to the satin of your skin.
I breath your pheromones
and store your essence in my mind

to take out periodically
and weave you through my soul,
inhaling the need into my core
the addiction of my soul.

The basis of my world has shifted
like the plates of the continent
your shakes become my quake
and I fall crumbled at your need.

I could no longer define myself
as anything less than your half.
Whether it is better or worse
I leave to your discernment.

Daily I endeavor to better
the parts of me you need,
for if you are complete and strong
my happiness is complete.

The important thing here is that one should not need another "half" to be complete. One should already be complete to meet another complete soul...that's how two truly become one. I learned that some years ago. It was a vital piece of advice. Tremendous poem, Tara!!!! :)

Oh, I definitely agree. I just mean "complete within self" prior to a joining of hearts, which will then allow new experiences to grow & shine together. I would certainly never question what is shared beyond that togetherness.

no. If you have loved some one as many years as we have been together then you are one. That is the danger of loving completely, the vulnerability that your happiness is no longer yours alone, but when your love weeps you weep, when one rejoices the other rejoice for their joy.Surrendering that much of yourself to another is scary bc of the danger they will break your heart, love removes the option. Dont harden bc prior heartache, the experience plows the field for a richer harvest. What is sad when love is unrequited,to give your heart to some one who will never love you the same those people can only love themselves. They never put you first bc their your happiness is not tied to theirs.
