Seeking Stars in the Strange
There’s this part of me that I think will stay with me,
It’s me sojourning across a recalcitrant turbulent sea,
There’s this part of me that’s a weave of the night,
I often try to push it away when I write.
There’s this part of me that I have lived with,
Sometimes it cuts through me like a scythe,
Sometimes I struggle to keep my mind in its place,
Bring it from going around the space.
I tell my friends that I’m not who they know on the outside,
I explain that the true me resides deep inside,
Only if they could walk through my door,
Then they might understand what lies in my core.
There’s a part of me that’s recalcitrant to change,
A part that’s deep and strange,
Though I still search for perpetual light,
I have learnt to seek the stars in my night.
