seeing snow at school

streaks of white
raining or snowing?
not apparent yet

the grass begins turning white
a cheer goes up
the second graders erupt in laughter
SNOW!

no one hears the math lesson now

once the snow comes, you might as well get out the snowsuits

The details are delicious, each line a freshly served accompaniment collectively delivered as the entrée, the building up of the sweetly populated scene. I'm relatably observing the weather in question also, but also absorbing the thrill of the young, that excitement over little things (love the first two lines) in life that's often lost on adults. The last line I see as emphasizing priorities grown-ups take rather than just innocently observing like children tend to do.

I know what snow does for children - they get so excited, they can think of nothing else - the teacher would be wise to let them go on out there and play - their mind cannot think of anything else now anyway
