- Seeing Beauty -

Why have all a beauty ideal
Every day we make aesthetic judgments of each other
We put the characters and judge each other's appearance
What is beauty and what is hideous
Is it the feathers that make a beautiful peacock
Is there consistency between the outer and inner

Unlock the diamonds fiery beauty in yourself
Is appearance important for a happy life
Long dark eyelashes, full lips and big ****
Or it's about charisma, inner beauty and charm
The beauty ideal ... naturally beautiful

It is of course true that beauty comes from within
through the personality and the radiance
Do not let a different appearance scare you away
A huge body, nerdy glasses, big nose and enormous ears
Beast, behind the raw, brutal exterior hides a warm and sensitive soul
There is no appearance that determines whether we are valuable or not.

All beauty and intelligence in this world comes from nature
and we are a vibrant and beautiful part of the whole
We do not love someone because they are beautiful
But we think they are beautiful because we love them
You ...... are an incredibly great person

Anne-Lise, I must admit . . . You are one of my Poetry Muses. I read your work on "Seeing Beauty" here in the wee hours of the morning. This is a fantastic piece of work. Yes -- the beauty ideal -- but beauty as it is said, is only skin deep. There is so much more, like: the soul, the passion, the character, the intelligence, the literal depth of a person. Everyone in his or her right is a complex individual. We all as poets (or I should probably most of us) sense these things. I do. Best, Gary

Absolutely brilliant and so true . Perhaps if we all embraced that concept There just might be fewer people being bullied on the internet or in the classroom and the adult world wouldn't be so cruel to each other.

Great message we all need to take to heart. Real beauty shines from the heart. I've talked to old ladies, and found the little cheeky girl in their eyes is still there, talking about the past. I like Woman to be real women, bumps and all. big or small doesn't matter. personality, sense of humour and femininity over looks for me.Not plastic Barbie dolls, Spoiled and covered in make up dressed like tarts. oops I mist stop judging. sorry. great write. Pete.

A beautifully expressed poem, with an uplifting message! And I agree with you, we should not waste our lives worrying about beauty when that is meaningless! Excellent writing, Anne-Lise! Hello Anne Lise if I could give your poem Seeing Beauty In Perfection as 10 I would. I really felt your inner, strength regarding how we see ourselves and how we see others as oppose to how we should see each other. I really enjoyed reading your work and plan to read more good write very good.

I echo David's sentiments... Lust at first sight appears to be unavoidable and sad really. Your message is powerful, if even one who reads this and takes it to heart, looking past the superficial and into the beauty we find in nature, could become blessed beyond measure. A barren land full of ugly foliage at first glance, but blanket it in snow and suddenly it's true beauty captivates. "PERSPECTIVES OF BEAUTY" as always sweetie yours shines bright! Tight squeeze <3 XOXOX

a lovely message in your poem for Nette. When I get to know a person who is beautiful on the inside, I don't even notice their physical flaws and in fact, they could be ugly as heck and it would not matter. by the same token, a very handsome man with ugly soul is a big turn off!!
