Seeds Or a Girl In My Kitchen

lets make seeds
she said bounching into the kitchen
a half carved pumpkin on the counter
guts and knives everywhere
oh the thrill
of having a girl around
too many boys
and this one may be the one
we wont know for a while
yes
I said
lets make seeds
enjoying her smiling eyes
her excitement
my son shakes his head at the two of us
also enjoying himself
we gather pans and sea salt
olive oil
and I watch her take my kitchen over
and I my heart
fills with what is yet to be
