              Seed Becomes Light

                Candle tongue
                small sun in ink
he burned twenty hours to wake dawn
darkness cracked like glass before him
            night bowed to one man

Poet Note:
This pensee is inspired by Thomas Edison, who worked by candlelight to invent the light bulb.

Nicely worded explanation on how the light of a candle helped give birth to a light bulb.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Knowing that the poem's "small sun in ink" found a place in your thoughts is the greatest compliment a poet can receive. I'm so glad it spoke to you. Your kind words truly inspire me to keep writing

Wow! This is so creative and truly poetic! How you've depicted the hours and all the moments that went into inventing the bulb.. it's just so innovative, your poetic approach itself! "Small sun in ink" absolutely gorgeous! Love that! And candle tongue, woah! Also, I love the way you've written "darkness cracked like glass" makes one really feel the setting and the atmosphere.. also, that last line is nothing less than brilliant. Pleasure reading your words today. Sending light and best wishes ~
