See the Rose

A world seen through eyes
of children and grandchildren
wakes our lost vision

Eyes tainted by life
see ideas in different lights
black and white now gray

Enlightening words
spewed from the mouth of mere babes
cause us to ponder

Ears tainted by life
hear darkness in spoken words
bonds of trust broken

Spoken words of truth
from the innocence of youth
often brings laughter

Embrace each new day
with eyes and ears of a child
give ode to the rose

I have rather bad souvenirs of roses offered to me but what's the poor rose got to do with it? So, well, Debra, let's give ode to the rose. She deserves it. Love your poem. So, that's what Senryu is. I just hardly know about haikus. OK, thanks for sharing, Debra! Love, Hanitra

Yes, trusting innocense of childhood is forgotten when we're old. The lessons in life teach us not to be so bold. Watching little children fills our hearts to overflowing. So after the day that I've just had. You'll know why I am glowing. I got to spend the day with my brothers two grandsons. They are angels and sweet devils all in the same body. As boys will be boys. Your poem reminds us how lucky we are to have them in our lives. Thanks.
